Happy New Year to all my ladies.
I hope you were all warm and well fed throughout the snow and embraced it with the fun it brings. My eleven year old was out for days in it and we even had enough snow to make an igloo in the garden. I have never seen rosy cheeks like it. We will remember that snow for a lifetime.
Welcome to all of you new girls who have just found sewing or rekindled the love of it. Its quite addictive, relaxing, rewarding, and so creative that its good for the brain. It should also make you slimmer, because you sew when you could have been eating!!!! (new girls will not have perfected the art of sewing and eating at the same time yet!!!) I also believe that it is so important to be creative around your children and grandchildren. There's no need for some huge teaching session, let them watch, help sort and choose colours. Give them their own sewing box, nothing flash a shoe box is fine and fill it with goodies. Check out the charity shops for bits of lace and odd cotton, buttons and interesting bit of fabric. Don't forget the glue, and none of that perfection stuff. So many of my ladies groan at their childhood memories of unpicking and redoing the 'aprons'. Grab an old sock and help them make a puppet.
Its no good me rekindling your sewing if it isn't passed on.

KIRSTIE HOMEMADE CHRISTMAS
By the amount of emails I received, it seems everyone watched Kirsties Homemade Christmas. It was an amazing experience. Only after a few phone calls her team ascended on my home in August. They didn't even give me time to loose weight!! . I did manage to clean the workshop and house up a dash. I thought she may need a lie down and even changed all the beds so she could choose which quilt she would like to sleep under. She was absolutely lovely, all hands on with soup making and buttering bread. She was really interested in my home and kids and loved Teddy; he's a cross Westie and Norfolk terrier. As quick as she came into my life she left and left me all of a dither. The results were there for the entire world to see!!
The programme was lovely and all our local craft shops ran out of cracker snaps, paint for the play dough, gold leaf!! glitter for the mince pies! And the stocking kits and pattern we had in preparation were totally inadequate for the response we got. It great to get the nation about buzzing about 'making', keep it up!!!!!
THE PRINCESS and the PEA ( Pearl and Sweet Pea)
I am not sure where these ideas come from or how they pop with such vigor in my brain, but its here to stay! A beautiful, hand crafted with love, 6" doll, long brown hair, with a friend Sweet Pea, a white dog. Add a gorgeous white wooden bed and ten quilts and mattresses of all shapes and sizes and you have my next project. I have scoured all charity shops for a lady bird copy of The Princess and the Pea and even have Aunty Betty on the case,, I have re written the fairy tale to fit modern day life and I hope to get daughter number one to do some illustrations, can you feel the buzz!!!! My sons comic of Bart Simpson even has this story in it this month, how's that!!! We are so with the trend.
I am testing it with my ladies, only a few moaned and there names may not be mentioned, they do not know how lucky they are to have me!!!!
We intend to offer it as a kit very shortly so watch this space!!!!! My husband cannot believe my initial order of 50 will not satisfy your demand!!! I know he's wrong.!!
Now I think there is a little quilt coming as well, will it ever stop…………….of course not.
Finally……….
I am now off to the workshop, my sons football match has been cancelled and that means I have a few extra hours to create something new, it may not happen, it may just mean a little tidy up or I may go off on another tangent. I keep dreaming of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, my ladies really would despair if I made them make that, they have only just got over Princess Pearl!!!! Until the next time…….
